Formula One Turkish Grand Prix 2007

Oh my god you guys, I can't believe I'm posting this late, it's almost time for the Italian Grand Prix! So sorry for being this late, but here's my (late) race report!

Race report:

Both Ferrari and McLaren dominated this race weekend’s training sessions, but during the closing stages of the qualifying, Ferraris Felipe Massa managed to grab the pole position, leaving Lewis Hamilton, McLaren P2, Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, P3 and world-champion Fernando Alonso, P4.
Both Ferrari drivers had a slight advantage even before the race was started. They had to start in the right side of the circuit, while the McLarens had to start in the left side. The right side was the ‘clean’ side with way better grip. The advantage showed off when Felipe Massa took the lead into the first corner, and Kimi Raikkonen easily slipped past Lewis Hamilton, leaving him to P3. World-champion Alonso had a dismal start. Both BMW’s managed to push past him, leaving him P6.

This proved to be very crucial for Alonso as he spent the next 12 laps looking at Kubica’s rear wing, and losing about second a lap to the Ferraris in the lead. He eventually made it past Kubica during the pole’s pitstop, and also passing Heidfeld in the pits. The Ferraris also pitted leaving Kovalainen, Renault, to take the lead temporarily. After this the race kept the status quo until the next round of pitstops. Kimi Raikkonen got very close to Felipe Massa, and was the first to go into the pits. However, Massa later came out of the pits in front of Kimi – no changes there.

Then a real shock came for the McLaren team on lap 43. Suddenly Lewis Hamilton’s front right tyre exploded in the mid-section of the track. He managed to drag himself back to the pits for a tyre change, but third place was definitely lost. He came out as P5, behind Alonso and Heidfeld.

Felipe Massa took home another win for Ferrari with Kimi Raikkonen in second place, earning Ferrari a 1-2 victory. Yay! :boogie: (sorry, couldn't help myself!)

That pretty much covers the events of the Turkish Grand Prix.
Results: Felipe Massa (Ferrari), Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari), Fernando Alonso (McLaren), Nick Heidfeld (BMW), Lewis Hamilton (McLaren), Heikki Kovalainen (Renault), Nico Rosberg (Williams) and Robert Kubica (BMW).

Next race coming up on the 9th of September at Monza, Italy.
